In Kenya, looters become instant political and ethnic heroes and heroines. See them all over? Some are governors, Members of Parliament, Senators and Cabinet secretaries who propelled themselves to stardom by being mentioned in corruption scandals.
In this new scam, we're talking about Sh 9B, a whole annual budget for a County like Kilifi, pocketed by real imps in this nation. The tentacles involved should not be underestimated and it is a fact that these mongooses are well connected in our political system.
The cartels will use just a fraction of their dirty money to buy justice, walk scot free from the corridors of our jingoistic Judiciary and proceed to enjoy their shitty dough.
Just a few millions will:
1. Compromise the police to do poor investigation, gather poor evidence including deliberately drafting of wrong charges and weirdly prosecuting innocent dummy offenders.
2. Bribe the prosecutor to present shoddy cases with the poor evidence provided by already corrupted investigating officers(I. Os).
3. Pay renowned lawyers to poke holes on the predetermined doomed evidences, subvert the cases with frequent adjournments and push them to oblivion.
4. Grease already stained hands of the judges to accept adjournments of the cases until they lose public attention, and then throw them away like fecal material in a plastic bag, in the pretext of lack of sufficient evidence.
By then, new corruption tittle-tattle will have emerged and filling the pages of our print media and screens of our televisions; keeping us, hapless Kenyans occupied with never ending futile tantrums on ways to fighting corruption.
Forget about the Sh 9B, it's gone, gobbled by our hyenas on two legs.
