Raila's National Resistance Movement; Kenya's upcoming genocidaire?

The much awaited major announcement by NASA leader Raila Odinga did not draw the excitement and hysteria that was expected. In fact, it was a total farce and a disappointment to his subjects who were anticipating an earth shaking bombshell.

Raila announced the unholy mutation of the National Super Alliance (NASA), from an Alliance of Political parties to a rebel movement to be known as National Resistance Movement(NRM), a reminiscence of Yoweri Museveni guerilla group that brought him to power in Uganda.

Additionally, Mr Odinga borrowed from the late Martin Luther King's direct economic action of  boycotting goods and services from firms that are allegedly deriving economic benefits from the Jubilee regime.

But how practical are these two steps in Kenya?

1.Kenya is a democratic state governed by rule of law and a working constitutionalism. Kenyans are aware of this and they cannot buy the purported civil disobedience call by Raila. Civil disobedience requires to be applied where there is a formal injustice, anchored in the law and prejudicing the general populace. The current Kenyan situation is about the personal interests of Raila and his quest to take over power.

2. Presumably, and as the norm for resistance movements, Raila will have a military wing that will seek to sabotage the security of this country. Pundits say that he might turn his notorious Men in Black goons into rag tag militia to carry out guerilla warfare against the government of Kenya.

However, the current security status in the region has been under scrutiny by the international community. Indeed, joint efforts are being put in place to bring stability in Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi. The world will not tolerate another armed struggle to happen in an important economic hub like Kenya. Kenya Defense Forces will vanquish in minutes any militia like it did with SLDF that was based in Mount Elgon.  Raila will  be killed or captured and taken to the Hague.

3. Odinga joins the ranks of other genocidaires like Jonas Savimbi, Alfonso Dhilakhama, Charles Taylor, Joseph Kony and other rebel leaders who committed the worst atrocities, and instability in Africa. This bloody path  will erase his democratic legacy and his previous credential disappear from the minds of Kenyans. He will be a political victory turned villain.

4. On the call for boycott of products from firms benefiting from the government, it will be a herculean task to convince his followers to abandon such products that touch on every sphere of their life. The call reveals the level of desperation that has engulfed Mr Raila. In the United States, the Negros had their black owned  banks, Insurance firms, bread making firms amongst other services. Unless Raila Odinga has Luo - NASA owned companies  from which his followers will acquire their essential goods and services, perhaps including roads not made by Chinese firms, the call is inconsequential.

Odinga should retire in peace and accept the fact that as a Kier, he was destined not to be the president of Kenya.
