AFTER receiving backlash, condemnations and a recall threat from Kenyans, Gathoni wa Muchomba says that she regrets sentiments she made earlier on TV show about MPs' pay rise.
This comes few hours after H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta affirmed his support to the Salary and Remuneration Commission(SRC) and vowed not to sign any Bill intended to increase legislators' pay.
Meanwhile the people of Kiambu have started appending their signatures to recall their Women Representative elect Gathoni Wa Muchomba. By the time of going to press, over 500,000 signatures had been collected.
Although it might not be possible to immediately remove the legislator, the symbolism made by the people of Kiambu should be a warning call to our greedy politicians that it will not be business as usual. Elected leaders have for a long time played with Kenyans ignorance and often operated their greedy activities with impunity.
The spirit of the people of Kiambu should spread to every corner of this nation so that politicians are stopped from taking the electorate for granted.
Power had already flooded Gathoni's head even before being sworn in.
